Saw a UFO this afternoon!

Mar. 3rd, 2013 | 10:39 pm

Or, at least, something I cannot explain.

I was driving to work and it was off in the sky right in front of me -- shaped like a rod, very bright white. At first I thought it was a plane, of course, but the more I looked at it, the more doubtful I became. And when it disappeared, in a blue, cloudless sky no less, you could have knocked me over with a feather.

Still can't figure out what it was.....

DIY laundry detergent

Nov. 30th, 2012 | 10:26 pm

I've washed two loads with this stuff so far and I'm really happy with it. Whether you're trying to save money (costs under $20), go green or whatever, here's a great recipe:

1 4lb. box Borax
1 4lb. box Baking Soda
1 4lb. box Washing Soda
3 bars Fels Naptha soap
2 sm. tubs OxyClean (optional)

Grate the Fels Naptha and mix it with all the other dry ingredients. This makes two gallons of dry detergent, enough for 9-12 months of laundry. Use one tablespoon per load. Yes, I said one tablespoon!

Fun with hair color

Jun. 14th, 2012 | 08:11 am

Streak your hair with chalk! Use soft pastels, not oil. Create and then wash out and start over again. FWIW, the color stays on fine even if you don't seal it with heat. Enjoy! :DDD

Sneaky puss

Jun. 7th, 2012 | 10:23 pm

I was heading out to work tonight, and as I looked in the rear view mirror to back out of the driveway I was startled by a face. One of my cats was hanging out in the back seat! I'd left the windows open after I went out earlier so the car wouldn't get too hot and she must have jumped in. Kooky kitty! O_o
